This is a rare opportunity to own this set of highly sought-after and screen-accurate prop Vichy Water bottle labels made famous by Captain Renault at the end of the classic movie. These reproduction props were meticulously researched and originally developed to form part of a museum exhibit where accuracy is paramount. They are created using traditional film and television art department techniques for added authenticity and so are perfect for on-screen or display use.

Note: This listing is for a set of two self-adhesive bottle labels as pictured, one white body label and a coloured neck/shoulder label. Any other items pictured are purely for illustration purposes only and are not included. The larger white body label measures approximately 119mm x 106mm and the smaller neck/shoulder label approximately 118mm x 52mm. The neck/shoulder label is created using a premium lustre vinyl with a light sheen and the white body label using a thinner matt vinyl in order to create an authentic look as possible to original labels of the era but with greater display longevity.

Important Bottle Advice: The prop bottles used by the production appear to be 75cl crown top glass bottles like those typically used for carbonated drinks such as Champagne or sparkling water. These are very similar in appearance to white wine bottles with the exception of the crown top top/finish section (a crown is a metal cap similar to those found on beer bottles) as most non-carbonated wines normally have a cork or screw top section instead. For those without access to a mechanical capping machine a white wine bottle without a screw thread at the top would be your best alternative to help recreate this iconic prop. We have chosen to recreate the labels using vinyl instead of self-adhesive paper for added flexibility when applying the labels to your choice of bottle. This is simply because the angles and curves can vary from bottle to bottle so helps prevent creasing.

Trivia: The Letters of Transit that motivate so many characters in the film did not exist in Vichy-controlled France and are purely a plot device invented by the screenwriters. Playwright Joan Alison always expected somebody to challenge her about the letters, but nobody ever did. Bogart dealt with a similar non-entity entity in 1941's "The Maltese Falcon." Despite its centrality to the plot, no such object ever existed as described.
