This is a rare opportunity to own this highly sought-after prop will and solicitor’s letters inspired by the last and final episode of the show, Sleepless in Peckham! These reproduction props are professionally printed using the best quality materials. They are created using traditional film and television art department techniques for added authenticity and so is perfect for on-screen or display use. This display set consists of the five following items:
Uncle Albert’s Will & Testament from Cartwright Cartwright & Cartwright
Letter addressed to Derek Trotter / Solicitor’s Notice to Heirs
Letter addressed to Rodney Trotter / Solicitor’s Notice to Heirs
Envelope addressed to Derek Trotter from Cartwright Cartwright & Cartwright
Envelope addressed to Rodney Trotter from Cartwright Cartwright & Cartwright
Note: The exterior of the will and solicitors envelopes are screen-accurate (marked flat 23 instead of the more-often used flat 368 but we can amend this if you should prefer) and although the contents of the will and letters are never seen on screen these props have been recreated using real-world content given all the available information... and plenty of research. Mr Cartwright, the solicitor in the episode, queries whether Del has even read any of the letters sent to him (the first of which a Notice to Heirs would have formed a standard initial correspondence) as both the Trotter brothers appear oblivious to the real reason they have been contacted by the solicitors, believing it must be related to their assorted money-related woes. It is more than likely that several different letters would have been sent following the Notice to Heirs but none of the contents apart from the stack of envelopes are properly seen.
Important Note: The red ribbon will be shipped flat for posting but is seen tied in a small knot on the screen-seen will. Due to the handmade nature of these props the address labels on the envelopes may differ from each other. The labels are slightly different in size and shape and are also intentionally spaced or angled differently to each other in order to match the originals. The date on the letters may also be amended for more accurate timeline purposes.
Albert Gladstone Trotter / 'Uncle Albert' - “Buster Merryfield"
Derek ‘Del Boy' Trotter - “David Jason”
Rodney Trotter - “Nicholas Lyndhurst”
Trivia: Buster Merryfield had no television experience before being cast as Uncle Albert, and as a result, he was very nervy in his early days on the show. He used to crash into the audience (deliver his lines without waiting for the laughter to die down) and had to re-record his scenes. Merryfield would than dry up and lose his words and it got to him. So David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst sat him down for a talk because he was worried he wouldn't last. If they ever made mistakes in the middle of a recording, they would blame someone and make it into a joke. If you can make the audience think you don't care, they relax and they feel like part of the joke. After that, he cracked his problem, relaxed into the show and the new partnership and became the lovable Uncle Albert.
