Trivia: The spinning knife blades mounted on the hubcaps of the Scorpions car at the Thunder Road car race were an homage, or even a copy, of the similarly mounted spinning knives on Messala's racing chariot in Ben-Hur (1959). In both races, the spinning blades ripped out the sides of the opposing vehicle, but failed to destroy the wheels, and the hero was the victor.
